I Did It!!

I said I would and I so did!!

I made/re-purposed an end table that I found at Goodwill into a kitchen play set for my son for Christmas.   Yep,  I rock.  I seriously kick mommy booty.  ;)  And this thing is CUTE!  I cannot wait to see his face on Christmas morning when he walks out of his room, into the dining room/living room and sees his big gift.  I am BEAMING as I type this, I am so excited!  (Is it Saturday yet?!)

Okay, I am just as excited to reveal it to "all" of you!  So, here it is!

Ahhhhhh!!!  I am so in love with this thing!  Here is "the process" I went through to make it so darn adorable! ☺

I primed then painted the table with "Soft Blueberry."

Then added this super cute valance that I found at Goodwill.  I just used our electric staple gun and attached it to the underside.  I have a basket that we will store some of his pots, pans & play food that he is getting for Christmas under there.

 Next my husband added the back - which is this super extra heavy duty cardboard he got from work and then the cute knick knack rack that I found at KARM (another type of Goodwill store we have here).  We also added the oven door (also made of heavy cardboard  - trying to be ever so frugal!) and some hooks on the side for pot holders and oven mitts.

I then painted on the burners and on the other side I added a small chalk board and a basket for the chalk and eraser.

 Dave then added the faucet and I put in the "sink" and burner knobs. The faucet was at Big Lots for $8, the knobs and handle for the oven at Home Depot for 99 cents and the "sink" was 50 cents at Goodwill.

Inside the oven is a cooling rack from my kitchen stash.  ☺

 The finishing touches was a curtain and "window."  The "window" is a sideways unfinished wooden sign I bought from Hobby Lobby for $1.99 and painted.  I then affixed a picture of something I'D love to looking at while I did dishes.  ;)  I bought a dowel rod at Hobby Lobby for 59 cents and some decorative ends for $1.47 and found the "curtains" (tea towels) at Goodwill for $1.99.

Seriously, I think it is adorable!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, that's it.  Another project that I found on Pinterest and I HAD to try and do myself.  My husband thought I was crazy and wanted to just go out and buy a kitchen set for our son.  But I insisted on making this ourselves.  Once he started seeing my vision, he totally got into it.  This will be part of the family for awhile, I do believe.  And when it finally moves on to another family, well, I think they'll appreciate it that much more.
Have a Merry Christmas my beautiful friends!!
Counting it all joy,
Angela
That is unbelievable! I had looked at so many kitchens for my 2 & 4 yr old and for the prices I could buy a real kitchen. This is beyond cute and gives whole new reason to go to Goodwill.
Such a cute kitchen!!
As far as the bins you asked about...Bed Bath & Beyond carries them but my store didn't have them so I ordered them off Amazon. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=116583
